Connecting Neurodivergent Families Together

NeuroPlay Connection Program

Our family support groups are rooted in play, connection and belonging for all. They are a safe space for neurodivergent children to explore while giving families the opportunity to connect, share experiences and access guidance in a supportive environment. These groups are volunteer led by facilitators and are designed to foster community, learning and fun for both children and parents.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a neurodivergent group?

Our neurodivergent group is a supportive, inclusive space for neurodivergent children under the age of 12. Our group is a safe space for families to connect, play, and build community. The focus is on acceptance, regulation, social connection, and fun—not therapy or clinical intervention.

Where do group sessions take place?

Our group sessions are held at 339 12th St, Brandon and are supported by First Presbyterian Church.

Who is this group for?

This group is designed for neurodivergent individuals, including (but not limited to) autistic individuals, ADHDers, and those with sensory, social, or emotional differences. Families who are exploring neurodivergence or awaiting diagnosis are also welcome. Parents who identify as neurodivergent are welcome to attend with their neurotypical children.

Do participants need a formal diagnosis?

This is a volunteer-based group, and participants attend at their own discretion.

Do parents or caregivers need to stay?

Parents or caregivers are expected to remain on-site and responsible for their child.

Is the environment sensory-friendly?

We strive to create a sensory-considerate environment. That said, group settings can still be unpredictable. Families are encouraged to bring any supports their child may need (headphones, fidgets, snacks, comfort items, etc.).

What if my child needs extra support or accommodations?

We encourage families to communicate their needs ahead of time when possible. While we do our best to be flexible and inclusive, accommodations are based on capacity and may vary by session.

What is your approach to behavior?

We use a neuro-affirming, compassionate approach. Behaviors are viewed as communication, and we prioritize safety, regulation, and respect over compliance or punishment.
